Ann Garcia-Mills
Director
Rey Ann has been teaching in and directing Montessori schools for the past 30 years, and has helped open several Montessori programs on both the East and West Coasts. She is American Montessori Society (AMS) trained, receiving her credentials from the Montessori Western teacher training program. She has an Early Childhood Development and Child Psychology background from Mesa College in San Diego and Long Beach State College in California.
Rey Ann lives in Middletown with her husband.
Kimberley Zeleznik
Lead Teacher
We are very pleased to welcome Ms. Kim back to MCB for her sixth year.
After graduating from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell with a dual degree in Music Education and English, Ms. Kim went on to earn a Masters of Education in Elementary Education from UMass Amherst. She then taught elementary music for six years and worked as a classroom teacher for four years before joining the staff at Montessori Centre. In 2008, she enrolled at the Northeast Montessori Institute (NMI) and completed her Early Childhood Certificate in Montessori Education in 2010. Currently, she is finishing her Early Childhood Education certificate with the Department of Education in RI.
Ms. Kim lives in Barrington with her husband and two sons, Matthew and Michael, both alums of Montessori Centre. In the very spare time she has, she enjoys spending time with her family, as well as running, reading, and gardening.
Amy Rice
Lead Teacher
Ms. Rice joined our school in March of 2012, and has been involved with Montessori all her life. As a child she attended the Witty School in Greenwich, CT, one of the first Montessori schools in the United States.
She is American Montessori Society (AMS) trained, receiving her credentials from the New England Montessori Training Institute in Boston. Ms. Rice has her Rhode Island teaching certificate for grades one through six, and is a trained Orton Gillingham reading specialist.
Amy has taught Montessori for the past 25 years, and co-founded Windswept Montessori School in Wakefield, Rhode Island.
Outside of school Amy spends her time with her daughter, and doing triathlons, rock climbing, mountain biking and hiking. Ms. Rice is a great asset to our Montessori program.
Liza Clemente
Assistant Teacher
Please join us in welcoming Ms. Liza Clemente to the program. Ms. Liza has been teaching in early childhood education for twelve years. She received her BA in Elementary Education with a minor in Psychology from Rhode Island College. Liza began her journey in the Montessori environment this past summer, and is currently in the Sun Room. Ms. Liza is excited to work with the children, parents and her fellow teachers. In her spare time she likes to take walks at Colt State Park, make costume jewelry and bake goodies.
Heather Kiely
Montessori Intern, Private Drama Instructor
Heather Kiely has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre from Shenandoah University.
She is currently working on obtaining her American Montessori Society credential through New England Montessori Teacher Education Center. She is also taking classes in early childhood education, working toward earning her Early Childhood Certificate. Heather has been the after school drama instructor here at the Centre since 2010. She started out as a substitute at the Centre and spent the 2010-11 school year as co-teacher of the toddler classroom.
She is married and has a toddler of her own, who is just the light of her life. She is delighted to be here and excited to continue her work with all of the children!
Nancy Edler
Co-Teacher, Spanish Teacher
Ms. Nancy has been working as a teacher at MCB since September 2005, as well as teaching Spanish at Montessori Centre. She graduated from the University of Rhode Island with majors in Mathematics and Education; she has Life Certification in Math and English for grades 5 through 12. For thirty-one years she taught math and/or English at the Portsmouth Middle School, retiring in 2003. Since joining the staff, she has taken several Montessori day seminars, as well as AMS assistant training at Gordon College in June 2007.
Ms. Nancy lives in Bristol with her husband. She is an avid St. Louis Rams fan and likes crossword puzzles, Sudoku, reading, traveling, and gardening.
Michelle Kaminsky
Music
We are pleased to welcome Ms. Michelle back for her eleventh year at Montessori Centre. She has been teaching since 1985, and has taught music in many of Rhode Island’s Montessori schools. She graduated with honors from the National College of Education, and her specialty is early childhood music. In addition, Michelle is currently serving on the Arts and Education Roster with the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts.
In her spare time, she plays in a Cajun band, The Magnolias, and lives in Providence with her husband.
We are happy that Michelle will be again be enhancing our Montessori environment with her many musical talents.
